"I now have a better idea on how to get past the gatekeeper and get right to the decision maker. This is a key part of the training because you must talk to the decision maker. He/she has the purchase orders! Also, always ask open ended questions and probe the customer to get him to leak information even if it is not crane related. Remember they love talking about themselves. As the customer tells me information I must acknowledge it by restating what they just told me. This shows that I care about what they are telling me. At some point in the conversation ask for the business without hesitation. Make it a close ended question, simply yes or no. Hopefully I get the deal and if I don’t I must find a way to get it!
